Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
TavernLink (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the TavernLink platform, accessible at tavernlink.com and via associated mobile applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
By using TavernLink, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account registration information (name, email address, password)
- Profile information (username, profile photo, game preferences)
- Store listing information provided by store owners (store name, address, phone number, hours, description, photos)
- Communications you send to us (support requests, contact form submissions)
- Payment information for Pro subscriptions (processed by our payment provider; we do not store card details)
Information Collected Automatically
When you use TavernLink, we automatically collect:
- Usage data (pages visited, features used, search queries, time spent)
- Device information (device type, operating system, browser type)
- Location data (with your permission, to show nearby stores and calculate distances)
- Session identifiers (anonymous tokens used to track page views and analytics events)
- Log data (IP address, access times, referring URLs)
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from third-party services you connect to your account, including authentication providers (including our authentication service provider, which stores your login credentials and manages your session) and payment processors.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the TavernLink platform
- Display store listings, events, and community content
- Provide store owners with analytics about their listings
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, booking confirmations)
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- Monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve the platform
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or illegal activity
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information with:
- Service providers: Third-party vendors who assist us in operating the platform, including companies that provide authentication, image hosting, email delivery, mapping, and error monitoring services. Each provider is bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.
- Store owners: If you book a seat or RSVP to an event, the store owner receives your name and contact information to fulfil that booking.
- Law enforcement: When required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TavernLink, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Public store listing information (store name, address, hours, game types) is visible to all users of the platform and may be indexed by search engines.
4. Location Data
TavernLink requests access to your device's location to show you nearby game stores and calculate distances. Location access is optional — you can use TavernLink without granting location permission, though distance-based features will be unavailable.
We do not store your precise location. Location data is used only at the time of your request to return nearby results and is not retained on our servers.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use two categories of cookies. Essential cookies are required for the platform to function, including session management and authentication. Analytics cookies help us understand how the platform is used in aggregate. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies, but essential features including sign-in may not function without them.
We use Mapbox to display maps. Mapbox may collect data subject to their own privacy policy. We use analytics tools to understand usage patterns; this data is aggregated and does not identify you individually.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention records or tax documentation).
Search queries are stored as anonymised analytics events and are not associated with your account or personal information after your session ends. Other analytics event data (anonymous session-level data) may be retained indefinitely in aggregated, non-identifiable form.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@tavernlink.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
You may delete your TavernLink account at any time from your account settings. Store owners who have claimed a listing may contact us to have their ownership association removed without deleting the public listing.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed password storage, and access controls on our databases. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@tavernlink.com.
9. Children's Privacy
TavernLink is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated “Last updated” date, and by sending an email notification to registered users where required by law. Your continued use of TavernLink after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at hello@tavernlink.com.
